Thrilling Adventures Rooted in Faith
I was the youngest child of a preacher and a businessman from Neenah, Wisconsin. After a first career in the film and television industry, I moved my family from Southern California to Washington, DC after 9/11. My career in the nation’s capital was completely fulfilling but hardly linear. I served as national TV news correspondent for CBN’s 700 Club covering the Pentagon, Supreme Court, and the State Department. I joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a public affairs officer and then was detailed to the State Department, and deployed to the Iraq War as the Global Outreach Officer and Crisis Communications expert. I was appointed as NATO’s Public Affairs trainer to the Afghan National Army in Afghanistan along the Hindu-Kush border with Pakistan and I served as the Executive Vice President, Public Affairs at the Foundation for Biomedical Research. The White House gave me a political appointment to serve as Press Secretary for FEMA during the hurricanes of Harvey, Irma, and Maria as well as the devastating California wildfires. I’ve worked as the Director of Strategic Communications for various U.S. Army divisions and as the contracted communications lead for Credence at USAID, the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance. Along this great journey of life, I’ve written, directed, and produced three motion pictures and penned six novels. A documentary TV series on basic biomedical research earned eleven regional Emmy® nominations.
I’ve been blessed with many assignments and missions, but the greatest job title I’ve ever had was simply called, “daddy.” All three of my sons serve proudly in the United States military, two in the Navy and one in the Marine Corps.
